14 Days 13 Nights Uganda & Rwanda Safari
Day 1: ARRIVAL AT THE AIRPORT.
You will warmly be welcomed by our professional guide at Entebbe International airport. After a short transfer to your hotel the guide will be brief about you safari. Then drive back to the Lodge for an overnight.
Day 2: SHOEBILL SEARCH ON MAMBABA SWAMP
Early morning, you will drive to Mambaba Swamp the home of the Shoebill stork. You will ride on the traditional canoe through the mambaba swamp in search for the Shoebill stork. You will then drive to the lodge for an overnight.
DAY 3: JOURNEY TO MURCHISON FALLS NATIONAL PARK.
At 8.00am, you will drive northwest to Murchison Falls National Park the largest National park in Uganda which is well known for its magical Murchison Falls. After 2 hours drive, you will have a stopover at Ziwa Sanctuary in Nakasongola the home of the only wild Rhinos for rhino tracking. After a briefing, you will track in search for the Rhinos on foot and when you get to the Rhinos for will have an hour with them, then proceed for lunch before heading out to Murchison Falls National Park passing though Masindi town.
When you enter the park you will pass through Budongo Forest a semi-deciduous tropical rain forest with patches of Savanna and woodland to your lodge. You will proceed to the top of the Falls where you can see the Nile’s beauty perfected! Marvel at the Nile, compressing from up to one km squeezed through a 7-metre canyon dropping 150 metres with a thunderous roar, creating a beautiful rainbow. Then drive to the lodge for overnight
DAY 4: GAME DRIVE AND BOAT TRIP
6.30am will be the best time to start the morning game drive on the northern bank of the Nile where most of the wildlife is concentrated. While on the game drive you through different tracks where you will have chance to spot different wildlife like Rothschild’s giraffe, Lions elephants, cape buffalos, waterbucks, hartebeests, bushbucks, if you are lucky the leopard. The game drive in the park will take between 4 to 5 hours before heading back to the Lodge for lunch.
After a tasty lunch at 2.00pm, you will go for a boat cruise on the Nile taking you to the base of the falls stopping just tens of meters from the ‘Devil’s Cauldron’. The boat ride will take 3 hours it start at 2.30pm and end at 5.30 pm. While on the boat cruise, you will spot the hippos, crocodiles and over the 17km stretch you may see waterbuck, elephant and Uganda Kob. You will also have an opportunity to view many bird species like the rare shoebill stork, goliath heron, Egyptian goose, pelican bee-eater, kingfisher, hornbill, cormorant and many more. At 5.30pm, those interested in hiking to the Top of the Falls will get off the boat then hike for 30-50minutes and the others will drive back to your lodge for overnight.
DAY 5: EXPLORE KIBALE FOREST NATIONAL PARK.
You will then continue to Fortportal or Kibale Forest National Park the home of the chimpanzees. You will reach at the Lodge in time for lunch after the guide will brief you on the activities that will take place on the following day program. Dinner and overnight at the lodge
DAY 6: CHIMPANZEE TRACKING – QUEEN ELIZABETH NATIONAL PARK.
Today the forest opens its doors for a sensational chimp tracking which start from Kanyanchu River Camp. Kibale Forest is reputable of having the greatest variety and highest concentration of primates in East Africa.
Chimpanzee tracking can either be done in the morning starting at 8.00am or in the afternoon at 2pm per day. With the ranger guides, you will enjoy a guided nature walk in the tropical rainforest in search of the wild habituated chimpanzees. This unforgettable tracking experience usually takes between 2 to 3 hours and when you get to the Chimpanzees you will take 1 hour with them. For Chimpanzee tracking, you are supposed to wear trousers, carry the rain gears since its in the forest the weather can change anytime, pair of binoculars, camera and hiking shoes. Besides spotting the Chimpanzees, you will also spot the grey-cheeked mangabey, red-tailed monkey and different bird species. After tracking the Chimpanzees, you will have lunch at the lodge then proceed to Queen Elizabeth National Park.
Queen Elizabeth National Park which is an open savanna park and the second largest national park in Uganda following the mystical Rwenzori Mountain Range. As you are driving to the Lodge, you will have an enroute game drive in Queen Elizabeth National Park then in the evening retire to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 7: GAME DRIVE AND BOAT TRIP
You will start your morning game drive with the lion experiential where you will drive with the researchers in search for the Lions. You will have an opportunity to go close to the lions. Then continue with the normal game drive in search for the other game like the cape buffalo, elephant, defassa waterbuck, Uganda Kob, topi, bushbuck and different bird species with the help of the guide. This excellent game viewing in Queen Elizabeth National Park will take between 3 to 4 hours drive.
At 2pm, you will go an afternoon unique 2-hour boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel into Lake Edward which will start from the penicular to Lake Edward and offers excellent platform for photography, bird watching and game viewing. The excellent boat cruise will end at 4pm then you will proceed to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
DAY 8: TRANSFER TO ISHASHA
After breakfast, you will then proceed for 2 hours to the southern side of Queen Elizabeth National Park, Ishasha the home of the tree climbing Lions. Before proceed to the Lodge, you will have an enroute game drive in search for the tree climbing lions and other game. Then you will drive to the Lodge for lunch and then a late afternoon game drive in Ishasha.
DAY 9: MORNING GAME DRIVE – BWINDI IMPENETRABLE FOREST NP
At 6.30am, you will have another morning game drive here in search for tree climbing lions. Your guide will explain exactly the theory behind the lions climbing trees in this part of the park and country. With the help of the ranger guide, you will go through different trails in search for the tree climbing lions. You will then drive back to the Lodge for breakfast before driving out to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest NP.
You will continue with the exciting journey which will take you to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park which is one of the most biologically diverse forests in Africa. Getting to this home of the Mountain Gorillas you pass through the Kigezi highlands, known as the “Switzerland of Africa”, with terraced farming and mountain scenery at its best. Dinner and Overnight at the Lodge
DAY 10: GORILLA TRACKING
This morning you will have to wake up very early to get ready for Gorilla tracking one of the most exciting wildlife experiences on earth. You will drive to the reception for registration at 7.30am, then briefly will follow at 8am and the Gorilla tracking will start at 8.30am. There are now only 650 left in the world! Expect to adventurously track through the Impenetrable Forest before you encounter any gorillas which is definitely worthwhile as you observe them closely while they eat, play with the young ones, rest and act like Humans. A unique and inspiring experience which one can’t miss! The Gorilla is a shy and peaceful animal and it is an unforgettable experience to watch and photograph them as they interact. There are always Park Guides with who you interpret the flora and fauna and the lifestyle of the Gorillas. Tracking the gorillas will last for a few hours to a whole day depending on how far the gorilla group you are tracking is. When you get to the Gorilla Family, you will take 1 hour with them which is a very memorable experience. Dinner and Overnight at the lodge
DAY 11: TRANSFER TO VOLCANOES NATIONAL PARK.
After breakfast, you will then continue to Volcanoes national park in Rwanda via either Katuna border or Kisoro border.
Volcanoes National Park is a home of the Mountain Gorillas and also a home to five of eight volcanoes of Virunga Mountains which include: Muhabura, Karisimbi, Sabyinyo, Bisoke, and Gahinga that are covered by the rainforest and bamboo. You will then drive to your lodge for an overnight.
DAY 12: GOLDEN MONKEY TRACKING – KIGALI
At 7am, you will start with a briefing from the ranger guides at the headquarters before starting the Golden monkey tracking. With the Golden monkey tracking, you will track through the bamboo forest in search for these rare endangered species. You will track till when you get to them. You will stay with them for 1 hour which will give you chance to see them play, move around from different branches. After, you will drive for 2-3 hours to Kigali for overnight.
DAY 13: KIGALI CITY TOUR
After breakfast, you will go for the Kigali city tour where you will have an opportunity to visit kigali Genocide memorial thereafter head to Nyamirabo Genocide memorial. You will then drive back to the hotel for an overnight.
DAY 14: DEPARTURE
You will then drive to the airport to catch your flight back home.
